PASSED EVENTS

• Official visit of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria prof. Bojidar Abrashev to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan - November 24th - 28th, 2004.

 

• October, 7th, 2004 at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry a Presentation meeting of the business opportunities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was held. The meeting was opened by the deputy chairman of the Chamber Mr. Georgi Chernev. The participants were 30 Bulgarian companies' representatives. Dr. Hasan Barmawi performed a slide show presentation about the economic cooperation with Jordan, as well as he presented the business conditions in the Kingdom.

Mrs. Ola Al-Masri, General Manager of the "Global Village" attended at the meeting. Mrs. Al-Masri presented one of the biggest and the most stunning projects in Amman "The Global village", which is organized annually over 120 000 sqm area. She kindly invited Bulgaria to take part in the next exhibition in July 2005.

 
• October, 5th, 2005 - Dr. Hasan Barmawi presented Jordan before the Rotary Club at Samokov Hotel. The external policies of Jordan, as well as investment opportunities were discussed.
 
• During the period September, 15-18, 2004 an official visit to the Republic of Bulgaria of Dr. Mohamed Al-Halaiqah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was held. he was accompanied by a business delegation - representatives to: Jordan Exporters Association, Jordanian Businessmen Association, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, Jordanian Association of Manufacturers of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Appliances, Chemical Industry, Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruit and Vegetables, etc.

At his visit to Sofia, Dr. Al-Halaiqah signed with Mrs. Lydia Shuleva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria, Agreement for Cooperation in the Field of Tourism on September, 16th, 2004, also with Mrs. Nikolay Vasilev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Agreement on Maritime Merchant Shipping and Ports on September, 17th, 2004.

Other meetings were held - with Mr. Simeon Saxe-Coburg Gotha, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Georgi Parvanov - President of the Republic of Bulgaria and others.
 
• September 13-21, 2004 a Jordanian Delegation, led by the governor of Balka, Samih Mjali and with members Walid Utum - Mayor of the city of Jerash, Miflih Arhemi - deputy in the Jordanian Parliament, eng. Shada Abu Hadib - Mayor of the city of Petra, visited Bulgaria. The delegation participated in the Days of Jordan in Sliven and in the round table "The cooperation between the Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Bulgaria - Ideas and Perspectives". Also, an exposition of the Jordanian lifestyle and culture were presented. The city Mayor Mr. Yordan Lechkov, the District Governor Mrs. Hristina Cholakova, the deputies Kosta Tsonev, Krastanka Shakliyan, Krastan Dodov, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Bulgarian-Jordanian Friendship in the 39th National Assembly Mr. Petar Mutafchiev, as well as many citizens of Sliven were present at the opening. The Days of Jordan in Sliven are a result of the signed in June in Jordan Cooperation Agreement between Sliven Municipality and Jerash Municipality.
 
• September, 14th, 2004 - September, 21st, 2004 the Honorary Consulate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Sofia with the kind assistance of Sliven Municipality organized Days of Jordan in Sliven and the exposition "Jordan - lifestyle and culture".
 
• September, 20th, 2004 in the city of Plovdiv with the assistance of the Honorary Consulate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Sofia, as well as of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Bulgarian-Jordanian Friendship in the 39th National Assembly Mr. Petar Mutafchiev, Agreement for Friendly Relations and Cooperation was signed between Dr. Ivan Chomakov, Mayor of Plovdid Municipality, Republic of Bulgaria and eng. Shada Abu Hadib - Mayor of Petra Municipality, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

D-r Chomakov was invited to visit the Kingdom in 2005.
 
• July 2004the folklore ensemble of the city of Sliven participated in the International Cultural Festival in Jerash. The delegation included: D-r Penko Penkov - Deputy mayor of Sliven and representatives of the cultural direction of the municipality.
 

•May, 20th - 30th, 2004 "Meeting Jordan" Exhibition was held at the "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" National Library on the occasion of the National day of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan May, 25, 1946, organized with the kind cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and the National Library.
 

• May, 2nd - 5th, 2004 Bulgarian business delegation visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan . The program of the delegation was coordinated with the Jordan Chamber of Industry. Within the frames of the visit Bulgarian-Jordan Economic Forum was held at the Jordan Chamber of Industry, as well as meetings between Bulgarian and Jordanian companies with the presence of Dr. Hatem Halawani, Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry.

The delegation included Bulgarian companies from the Sliven Municipality interested to meet Jordanian businessmen from different branches.

The head of the delegation was Mr. Yordan Lechkov - Mayor of the city of Sliven, Republic of Bulgaria. The delegation members met the Mayor and Governor of the Great Amman Municipality, the General Secretary of Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Mayor of the city of Jerash region, the General Secretary of the Football Federation, the president of Youth and Sports Council, the Director of the Free Trade Zone Zarqa. They met also the editors of the two biggest Jordanian newspapers Al-Rai and Ad-Dustour.

   
• In the city of Jerash the Mayor of the city of Sliven, Republic of Bulgaria and the Mayor of the city of Jerash, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the assistance of the Honorary Consulate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Sofia, signed a Brotherhood Protocol of Agreement.
